Auckland Home Show locks in 10–13 September at the Showgrounds with 450-plus exhibitors and a new 2,500sqm garden build

MICE editorial — 18 August 2026 Auckland Tier A

The Auckland Home Show runs Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026 at Auckland Showgrounds, Greenlane, with more than 450 exhibitors and a new 2,500sqm Auckland Garden Showcase added to the floorplan. It is organised by Exhibitions and Events New Zealand (EENZ) and confirmed on the venue's own upcoming-events listing.

The Auckland Home Show returns to Auckland Showgrounds in Greenlane from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026, a four-day consumer exhibition that its organiser describes as the largest home show in Australasia and that will put more than 450 exhibiting brands onto the floor of New Zealand's biggest dedicated exhibition site.

This is not a delegate conference and should not be read as one. It is a gate-driven trade-and-consumer exhibition: the commercial product is stand space, the audience metric is visitor volume rather than registrations, and the event's significance to the business-events sector lies in how much venue it consumes and for how long.

Dates, hours and confirmed venue

The official show website carries the dates in its site header, its footer and its Getting There page: Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September 2026, Auckland Showgrounds, Greenlane. The venue address is given as 217 Greenlane Road West, just south of the Auckland CBD and across the road from Cornwall Park.

Published opening hours are 10am to 6pm on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with a single late night on Friday when the show runs 10am to 9pm. The Friday late session is positioned by the organiser as the quieter, lower-crowd window for visitors who want one-on-one time with exhibitors.

The dates are independently corroborated by the venue operator. Auckland Showgrounds' own upcoming-events page lists the Auckland Home Show with a show date of 10 to 13 September, describing it as New Zealand's largest home improvement event returning "with two shows, one ticket".

What is on the floor

The headline figure across the organiser's materials is 450-plus exhibitors. The About Us page sets out the product categories on show, which span advisory services, appliances, architects, architectural hardware, bathroom ware, bricks, stone and paving, building products, carpet and rugs, decks and patios, doors and windows, fences and gates, fireplaces, flooring, furniture, garages and sheds, heating and cooling, home builders, hot water systems, insulation, interior designers, kitchens, landscapers, lighting, pools and spas, roofing, security products, solar, sustainable building products, tapware, tiles, tools, cladding, water tanks and window furnishings.

The significant structural change for 2026 is the addition of the Auckland Garden Showcase, a new zone the organiser puts at 2,500sqm and eight landscaped designer garden displays. Every designer garden is built and landscaped by Parrot Landscaping, named as Official Landscaper of the showcase, and the zone also carries a dedicated outdoor living space by Mitre 10 covering decking, fencing, barbecues and outdoor entertaining. A second new feature, The Kitchen, is a demonstration space created in partnership with Kaboodle and Samsung and running live appliance and design sessions.

The supporting programme is substantial and free to visitors: the Design Renovate Decorate seminar series sponsored by Resene, a How To Workshops stream of hands-on demonstrations, the RYOBI Make + Take interactive workshop, a Home Marketplace, a Saturday "Home on the Grill" steak cook-off with more than 20 competing teams, and a Sunday Family Fun Day with Mitre 10 kids' workshops and other free entertainment.

The organisation behind it

The show is produced by Exhibitions and Events New Zealand (EENZ), an Auckland-based professional exhibition organiser headquartered at Level 1, 19 Morgan Street, Newmarket. EENZ describes itself as backed by more than 50 years of combined industry experience and says it has delivered high-impact exhibitions for over two decades.

EENZ sits inside a trans-Tasman group. It is part of a wider structure with Melbourne-based Exhibitions and Events Australia (EEA), which runs 16 consumer shows a year across the home, wellbeing and collectables sectors. EEA was founded in 2005 by managing director Jane Ford, who launched EENZ as the New Zealand arm in 2010. The New Zealand portfolio is the Auckland Home Show, the Canterbury Home Shows and CollectFest.

On audience scale, EENZ publishes a group figure rather than a single-show gate number, stating that its Home Shows reach over 65,000 engaged homeowners annually — a total that spans the Auckland event and the two Canterbury shows, so it should not be read as an Auckland attendance figure.

Venue, footprint and load-in

Auckland Showgrounds, operated by NZEEC, markets itself as New Zealand's premier events and exhibition centre with more than 18,000sqm of indoor and outdoor exhibition space across a site that has hosted events for more than 160 years. That combined indoor-and-outdoor capacity is what makes the Home Show format possible: a 2,500sqm live garden build with mature planting and hard landscaping is an outdoor-scale job that most conference venues simply cannot take.

The clearest indicator of the show's footprint is what the organiser has to withdraw. Auckland Showgrounds normally offers onsite paid parking, but the Home Show's Getting There page states plainly that due to the size of the event there is no public parking onsite during the show. Visitor parking is pushed next door to Alexandra Park, entered from Campbell Crescent off Manukau Road or via Gate B or Gate D on Green Lane West Road, with limited free parking on surrounding streets and Puriri Drive. Taxis and rideshare are directed to drop off near the Showgrounds entrance and are not permitted into the grounds. Bike racks sit opposite the main entrance. For public transport the organiser points visitors to Auckland Transport's journey planner rather than naming specific services. Accessible parking is available at the Showgrounds via Gate 1 and at Alexandra Park, and the venue is wheelchair accessible throughout with accessible toilets in all bathrooms.

Where it sits in Auckland's September calendar

The Home Show anchors a dense run of consumer and trade exhibitions at Greenlane. The venue's own listings show the Baby Show on 22–23 August and the trade-only Spring NZ Gift and Homeware Fair from 30 August to 1 September immediately ahead of it, and the Auckland Pet Animal Expo on 19–20 September immediately behind it. With bump-in and bump-out either side of a four-day open period, the Home Show effectively takes the site out of the market for the better part of a fortnight in early-to-mid September.

On accommodation, the show publishes no visitor accommodation programme and no room block — consistent with an event whose audience is drawn overwhelmingly from the Auckland region and attends for a single day. The demand it generates on Auckland's bed stock is therefore concentrated on exhibitor and contractor crews during build-up and breakdown rather than on a visiting delegate body.
