Conztruct rolls into Dunedin's Edgar Centre on 13 October as national trade roadshow hits the lower South

MICE editorial — 03 September 2026 Dunedin Tier A

Conztruct Dunedin 2026 is a free construction trade expo at the Edgar Centre on 13 October 2026, one stop on The CMS Group's 16-city national roadshow presented with CARTERS. It draws builders and tradespeople to meet suppliers and earn LBP Skills Maintenance points.

Conztruct comes to Dunedin

Conztruct Dunedin 2026 lands at the Edgar Centre on Tuesday 13 October 2026, running from 3pm to 6:30pm. The organiser's own registration page confirms the date, venue and time, and lists it as the Otago stop on a national touring trade expo. Entry is free, and attendance counts toward Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) Skills Maintenance requirements.

Who runs it

Conztruct is produced by The CMS Group (Construction Marketing Services Ltd), a Christchurch-based business that connects construction suppliers with the trade, design and specifier communities through consultancy, online platforms and trade events. CMS describes Conztruct as New Zealand's largest nationally run trade show for the building and construction sector, staged across 16 locations each year. The 2026 series is fronted as CARTERS CONZTRUCT, with building-supplies merchant CARTERS as principal partner running a "CONZTRUCTION Zone" and a Tool Hub on the show floor.

Who it's for and the format

The expo is aimed at builders, electricians, plumbers and other trade professionals across both residential and commercial sectors. The format is a walk-through supplier exhibition over a welcome refreshment, letting attendees see the latest products in one place. For 2026 CMS has added short "Upskill Workshops" on running a building business, covering site health and safety, BIM modelling, and local council updates at selected venues.

Venue and logistics (context)

The Edgar Centre is a Dunedin City Council-owned multi-purpose indoor sports and events venue in South Dunedin, on the shore of Otago Harbour near Andersons Bay Inlet. It is a large single-building indoor arena and its main arena regularly hosts functions and dinners, making it a practical fit for a floor-based trade expo with supplier stands and workshop spaces. The South Dunedin location is a short drive from the central city; this is reporting on the venue, not a transport pitch.

Why it matters in NZ MICE

Conztruct is a clear example of the touring-roadshow model in New Zealand business events: rather than a single flagship, one exhibition concept is replicated across 16 regional venues in tight geographic clusters. Dunedin sits in the lower South Island leg alongside Christchurch (12 Oct), Invercargill (14 Oct, ILT Stadium Southland) and Queenstown (15 Oct, Queenstown Events Centre) — four cities on four consecutive days. That cadence spreads national trade-exhibition activity into secondary centres like Dunedin that rarely host large standalone expos, and demonstrates how a recurring, sponsor-backed format sustains regional venue utilisation across the calendar.
