New Zealand Aerospace Summit 2026 returns to Te Pae Christchurch on 1–2 October

MICE editorial — 24 September 2026 Christchurch Tier A

The New Zealand Aerospace Summit 2026 is the country's largest aerospace conference, run by industry body Aerospace New Zealand across 1–2 October 2026 at Te Pae Christchurch. Its 2025 edition drew more than 750 participants, marking it as an established annual sector event.

What the Summit Is

The New Zealand Aerospace Summit 2026 is billed by its organiser as the country's largest aerospace conference and its only dedicated aerospace summit. It runs across two days, 1–2 October 2026, at Te Pae Christchurch, under the 2026 framing "Look Up at Global Possibilities. Lean in for Aotearoa's Future." The programme is built to bridge technical execution and global vision, bringing together innovators, regulators, founders and investors from across the aerospace and space sectors.

This is an established annual event rather than a one-off. The 2025 edition, held at the same venue in October 2025, drew more than 750 participants and hundreds of companies from around the world, according to Aerospace New Zealand, confirming the summit's scale and standing.

Who Runs It

The summit is organised by Aerospace New Zealand, a not-for-profit industry body for the country's aerospace and space sector. The organisation positions the summit as a national platform for the sector, with a focus on fostering innovation and high-tech employment. Christchurch is the natural home for the event as New Zealand's recognised aerospace hub, home to a cluster of aerospace and space firms and to sector infrastructure across the wider Canterbury region.

Who It's For and the Programme

The audience spans aerospace company executives, engineers, researchers, investors and policymakers, alongside government officials, university academics, and international companies with interests in the New Zealand market.

The 2026 format runs across two distinct days. Day one delivers targeted deep-dive sessions on specific topics such as liquid hydrogen propulsion, autonomous aircraft and aerospace manufacturing. Day two is a full-day programme in the main auditorium built around keynotes and panels. Confirmed speakers include Teasel Muir-Harmony, Curator of the Apollo Collection at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, presenting on Apollo's legacy under the title "Apollo's Legacy: Engineering the Future by Preserving the Past."

The Venue: Te Pae Christchurch

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is the summit's host venue. Opened in 2021, it is a purpose-built convention centre in the central city on the banks of the Ōtākaro Avon River, with a large main auditorium plus banquet and exhibition space suited to a two-day conference of this scale.

As delegate-movement and accommodation context, Te Pae sits within central Christchurch's hotel cluster, with numerous accommodation options within walking distance in the CBD, which supports the concentrated flow of 750-plus delegates between sessions, networking and lodging. Christchurch Airport lies roughly 12km from the city centre, giving the venue straightforward access for the international and domestic delegates the summit draws. These are reporting notes on how the event sits within the city, not a service pitch.

Why It Matters in NZ MICE

The summit is a marquee example of a sector-anchored business event in the South Island. Its combination of a confirmed central-city convention-centre venue, a 750-plus delegate base, high-profile international speakers and strong government and industry participation makes it one of Christchurch's significant recurring conferences. It also reinforces Christchurch's identity as New Zealand's aerospace hub, a positioning that helps the city compete for technology-sector MICE business nationally.
