Cambridge A&P Show 2026: a November weekend at Cambridge Raceway

MICE editorial — 22 October 2026 Cambridge Tier B

The Cambridge A&P Show is a long-running agricultural and pastoral show run by the Cambridge Agricultural & Pastoral Association at Cambridge Raceway, with the 2026 edition on 28-29 November.

The Cambridge A&P Show is a long-running agricultural and pastoral show held each November at Cambridge Raceway in Cambridge, Waikato. The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand's A&P show calendar lists the 2026 edition on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, with gates from 8:00am on the Saturday and the second day running until 5:00pm.

Who runs it

The show is organised by the Cambridge Agricultural & Pastoral Association, named as the hosting association on the RAS NZ A&P show calendar. It is run by a volunteer committee; Cambridge News reported a 13-person committee as of 2023, with Kerryanne Greene as show secretary. The event has deep local roots: Cambridge News recorded the 2023 edition as the show's 119th, and reported that it has been based at Cambridge Raceway since 1936.

Who it's for

In recent years the show has centred on equestrian competition. Cambridge News reported that the 2023 show ran 11 rings covering show ponies, hacks, ridden show horses, Clydesdales and round-the-ring jumping, drawing more than 170 competitors and over 220 horses from as far north as Dairy Flat to as far south as Gisborne, with riders ranging from four years old to their 60s. Earlier coverage (SunLive, 2013) described a broader programme that then included around 20 horse sections plus dairy and beef cattle, a school calf club, alpacas, dog displays, a young farmers' fencing competition, trade stands, food stalls and children's rides, billing it as one of the largest one-day shows in the North Island. Cambridge News reported that the cattle and goat sections were later discontinued after Covid disruption and a weekend clash with the rescheduled Stratford A&P Show, leaving the horse classes as the core of the modern event.

The venue and logistics

The show is held at Cambridge Raceway on Taylor Street, just off State Highway 1B on the edge of Cambridge township. Cambridge sits on State Highway 1 in the Waikato, roughly 20 kilometres south-east of Hamilton and about a two-hour drive south of Auckland, placing the showground within easy reach of the central North Island. The raceway is an established harness-racing venue with on-site grounds and parking, and the surrounding Cambridge township offers a range of visitor accommodation. These transport and access details are provided as factual context only.

Why it matters for New Zealand MICE

Regional A&P shows such as Cambridge are large community gathering events that double as outdoor exhibition occasions, drawing competitors, trade exhibitors and visitors from across the central North Island over a weekend. Venues like Cambridge Raceway illustrate how New Zealand showgrounds and raceways serve as flexible, high-capacity outdoor event spaces capable of hosting multi-ring programmes, trade displays and public crowds beyond their primary racing use.
