AgFest West Coast 2026, Greymouth

MICE editorial — 14 October 2026 Greymouth Tier A

AgFest West Coast 2026 is the West Coast's largest agricultural trade show, running 16–17 October 2026 at the Greymouth Aerodrome. Billed as the region's eighth AgFest, the two-day field day brings farm machinery, agri-tech, rural businesses, food and family activities together in Greymouth.

A West Coast farming showcase

AgFest West Coast returns to Greymouth on 16 and 17 October 2026, with its official website billing it as "the largest agricultural trade show on the West Coast." The event runs as a two-day outdoor field day at the Greymouth Aerodrome, the site it has used in recent editions.

The organisers describe a programme built around "big machinery, rural innovation, food, family fun, and more," spanning farming vehicles and implements, agri-tech, dairy shed equipment, stock care, and health and safety. The 2026 edition is promoted as the eighth AgFest, carrying the tagline "Enabling Rural Success."

Who runs it

AgFest was started in 2012 and "has grown to be a major agricultural event on the West Coast calendar," according to rural trading co-operative Ruralco, which has attended past editions. The show has traditionally run on a roughly biennial cycle, with recent editions held at the Greymouth Aerodrome.

The event does not publicly name a single organising company or trust; its own site and social channels operate under the "West Coast AgFest" banner, and the 2026 edition lists Grey District Council as its event partner. Rural insurer FMG, which lists the show in its own events calendar, says AgFest "returns to Greymouth to celebrate" another year on the West Coast and that its team looks forward to catching up with "old and new faces" on site.

Who it's for and what's on

The organisers position AgFest as a showcase that gives "people in the rural sector the opportunity to showcase their business" while celebrating farming's importance to businesses on and around the Coast. The exhibitor footprint is organised into named pavilions, and the 2026 programme pairs trade and machinery displays with food trucks, entertainment and family activities, so it draws both the farming community and the general public.

Exhibitor bookings for 2026 opened on 1 August 2025, with returning exhibitors given priority. A full exhibitor list and site map for the 2026 show are published on the official site.

The venue and getting there

The show is staged at the Greymouth Aerodrome on the northern edge of Greymouth, the main town on the West Coast of the South Island. As a flat aerodrome site it suits the large outdoor machinery displays and open-air pavilions that define a field-day format.

Greymouth is reached by road via State Highway 6 and State Highway 7, and by the TranzAlpine passenger rail service from Christchurch across the Southern Alps. Delegates flying in typically route through Christchurch (around a three-and-a-half to four-hour drive) or via the smaller Hokitika Airport to the south. Accommodation is concentrated in Greymouth township and surrounding Grey District settlements; because the show lands in mid-October, close to the start of Labour Weekend, visiting businesses and exhibitors should expect regional beds to book out early.

Why it matters for NZ MICE

AgFest is one of the few trade-scale business events anchored on the West Coast, a region with limited large-venue infrastructure. For the meetings and events sector it illustrates how a non-traditional, open-air site such as an aerodrome can host a multi-day trade show, and how a primary-industry event drives visitor nights into a regional economy during a defined spring window.
