A live directory of Dunedin AV and event production companies — sound, lighting, staging and vision for conferences and corporate events across Otago.
Audiovisual production is the invisible infrastructure of a good conference: when the sound is clear, the slides are bright and the speakers can be heard at the back of the room, nobody notices; when it fails, nothing else matters. Dunedin's AV and production sector serves the city's universities, its convention and function venues and Otago's wider corporate calendar, spanning straightforward sound-and-projection hire through to full-scale staging, lighting and vision for larger conferences and gala dinners.
The list below ranks AV and event production companies in Dunedin, drawn live from the MICE directory. Decide first what your event actually needs — a lectern mic and a screen for a seminar is a very different brief from multi-camera vision, stage design and live streaming for a plenary — then shortlist accordingly. Ask whether the venue has in-house AV or a preferred supplier, since that shapes both cost and who you can bring in.
Confirm the specifics with each supplier: what's owned versus sub-hired, whether an operator stays on-site for the event, load-in access and rigging at your venue, and backup plans for critical gear. Pair this with the Dunedin venues and the national AV directory.
Live from the MICE directory, ranked by our data. Figures are indicative — confirm with each provider.
In-house AV is convenient and already matched to the room, but an independent production company often offers more flexibility and competitive pricing for anything beyond the basics. Compare quotes and check whether the venue permits external AV.
At minimum, reliable sound and projection. Larger or higher-stakes events add staging, stage lighting, multi-camera vision, presentation management and sometimes live streaming. Brief suppliers on your programme so they scope the right package.
For anything beyond simple hire, an on-site technician is strongly recommended and often included. Confirm whether operator time is in the quote and who troubleshoots during the event.
Several can, with cameras, encoders and streaming setups. Discuss platform, bandwidth at the venue and recording needs early.
Book as soon as your venue and format are confirmed, particularly for larger productions in peak season. Kit and skilled operators are finite, and early booking secures both.
