The Bay of Islands Pastoral & Industrial Show runs Saturday 14 November 2026, 8am–5pm, at the Bay of Islands Showgrounds, Waimate North, Northland. The organiser's own site and the Royal Agricultural Society listing confirm the date, venue, organiser and a full programme, with around 7,000 visitors a year.
The Bay of Islands Pastoral & Industrial Show returns to the Bay of Islands Showgrounds at Waimate North on Saturday 14 November 2026, running from 8am to 5pm. It is a classic one-day A&P show, and its organisers describe it as the oldest agricultural show in New Zealand, tracing its origins to a first gathering in the Bay of Islands in 1842 before it settled at Waimate North, where it has been held for several decades.
The Show is organised by the Bay of Islands Pastoral & Industrial Association, a long-standing regional society that also hires out the showgrounds for weddings, community events and equestrian use through the year. The Association lists Mel Morgan as the event organiser contact (per the Royal Agricultural Society of NZ listing).
This is a public, family-oriented show rather than a trade conference. The Association's programme spans Hall Exhibits (photography, children's art, baking, growing, and making and creating), Equestrian classes, a Pet Lamb & Calf Club, Livestock, and Trade Sites including food and fundraising stalls, alongside a 'Savouring the Source' feature. A Recycled Ribbon Day is scheduled at the showgrounds on 11 October 2026 ahead of the main event. The Association reports the Show draws around 7,000 visitors each year.
The Bay of Islands Showgrounds sit at 205 Showgrounds Road, Waimate North, in rural Northland, immediately behind the historic Waimate North Mission House. Waimate North lies a short inland drive from Kerikeri and the wider Bay of Islands coast, so the grounds are reached mainly by road. Camping on site is available to NZMCA and AllPoints Camping Club members, with other campers directed to arrange access through the Show Secretary; dogs are not permitted on the grounds except service dogs and dogs competing in dog trials (all per the Association's site). The grounds' open rural setting on the edge of the Kerikeri/Bay of Islands area means visitor accommodation is drawn from the surrounding towns rather than the venue itself.
As one of the Far North's set-piece rural events and, by its own account, the country's oldest agricultural show, the Bay of Islands Show is a fixture of Northland's spring calendar and a meeting point for the region's farming, equestrian and craft communities. It anchors the northern end of the national A&P show season listed by the Royal Agricultural Society of NZ.
