Team building activities in New Zealand for groups of 100 or more

MICE editorial — 22 August 2026 Tier A

MICE lists 31 New Zealand activity operators that confirm they can run a single team-building session for 100+ people.

Most team-building operators are built around groups of 20 to 40. Once your delegate list passes 100, the shortlist narrows sharply — and splitting a conference into rotating waves adds cost, transport and timing complexity.

Of the 485 activity operators listed in the MICE directory, 31 confirm they can take 100 or more people in a single session. This guide covers who they are and how to brief them.

Where the large-capacity operators are

The 31 operators cluster in five regions:

  • Queenstown — 12 operators, the deepest market in the country
  • Rotorua — 6 operators
  • Auckland — 6 operators
  • Christchurch — 5 operators
  • Wellington and Taupō — 1 each

If your group is over 100 and the destination is still open, Queenstown, Rotorua and Auckland give you the most genuine choice.

The largest-capacity operators

  • Corporate Challenge Events Auckland — up to 1,000 people, indoor or outdoor, and mobile (they come to you)
  • Velocity Valley, Rotorua — up to 600
  • Off Road Adventures and Nomad Safaris, both Queenstown — up to 500 each
  • Rainbow's End Corporate Events, Auckland — 20 to 500
  • Action Matakana, Auckland — up to 400
  • Game Over Christchurch — 10 to 400, indoor
  • Skyline Queenstown and Ziptrek Ecotours, Queenstown — up to 300 each
  • Walter Peak High Country Farm (RealNZ), Queenstown — 25 to 275
  • EcoZip Adventures, Auckland — 10 to 250
  • Game Over Queenstown — 10 to 220

A second tier sits at 100–200: ZORB Rotorua, Kinross, Rockup Adventures, The Amazing Race Auckland, Corporate Amazing Race Wellington, Serve Social, Off Road NZ, Chris Jolly Outdoors, Raftabout Rotorua, River Rats Raft & Kayak, Southern Whitewater, Oxbow Adventure Co., iFLY Queenstown, Shotover Jet, KJet Queenstown, Mountain Club Queenstown, Thrillzone, Adrenalin Forest and Rotorua Canopy Tours.

Briefing a large group properly

Ask for the single-session number, not the daily number. Some operators quote total daily throughput, which means your 200 people are actually four rotations across a full day.

Confirm the wet-weather position. Adventure and water operators are weather-exposed. Of the 31, several run indoors or in both settings — worth knowing before you commit a whole conference to one outdoor activity.

Check whether the operator travels. Four of the 31 are mobile: Corporate Challenge Events Auckland, Rockup Adventures, The Amazing Race Auckland and Corporate Amazing Race Wellington. That removes the transport problem entirely.

Budget the transfer. Moving 200 delegates to a site takes coaches and a schedule. Line this up with event & delegate transport at the same time you book the activity, not afterwards.
