The Asia/Pacific finance research community convenes at Massey Albany: FMA's 15th Asia/Pacific Conference

MICE editorial — 24 October 2026 Auckland Tier A

The FMA International 2026 Asia/Pacific Conference (its 15th) is confirmed for 2–4 December 2026, hosted by Massey University at its Auckland (Albany) campus.

The Financial Management Association International brings its 2026 Asia/Pacific Conference, the 15th in the series, to Auckland from 2 to 4 December 2026, hosted by Massey University at its Albany campus on the city's North Shore. According to the organiser, research-paper presentations run across Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December, preceded by a Doctoral Student Consortium on Wednesday 2 December, with a programme of paper sessions, panel discussions, tutorials and exhibits.

Who runs it

The conference is organised by the Financial Management Association (FMA) International, which the organiser says was established in 1970 and connects a community of more than 4,000 finance academics, doctoral students, students and practitioners around the shared goal of bridging academic research and industry practice.

The Auckland edition is co-hosted locally by Massey University. The organiser lists program co-chairs Martin Young (Massey University), Xiaoyun Yu (Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and Tao Chen (Nanyang Technological University), with Massey's Harvey Nguyen and Jasmine Fang on the local organising committee. Stephan Siegel, Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the University of Washington, is named as keynote speaker.

Who it is for

The organiser frames the event for academics and practitioners working in financial decision-making, with a strong early-career research strand through the by-application Doctoral Student Consortium. It is an international academic finance gathering rather than a trade or consumer event; the organiser publishes no attendance figure.

The venue and logistics

The confirmed venue is Massey University's Auckland (Albany) campus, in the East Precinct off Dairy Flat Highway (State Highway 17) in Albany, Auckland 0632. Albany sits on Auckland's North Shore, roughly 20 kilometres north of the city centre and reached via the Northern Motorway; the campus is close to the Albany bus station on Auckland's Northern Busway, which links the area to the CBD. Albany and the wider North Shore offer hotel and serviced-apartment accommodation, and Auckland Airport lies to the south of the city, on the opposite side of the harbour from the campus.

Why it matters for New Zealand MICE

A 15th-edition international academic conference choosing Auckland, and a New Zealand university campus as host, is a signal of the country's standing on the Asia/Pacific finance-research circuit. It draws international delegates for a multi-day stay in early summer, pairs an established global organiser with a local institutional host, and demonstrates how university campuses function as credible conference venues within New Zealand's business-events landscape.
