The Rotorua A&P Show returns for its 118th year

MICE editorial — 26 October 2026 Rotorua Tier A

The 118th Rotorua A&P Show runs on Saturday 5 December 2026 at the Agrodome, Ngongotaha - a one-day agricultural and pastoral show organised by the Rotorua A&P Association.

Rotorua A&P Show 2026

The Rotorua A&P Show returns for its 118th annual staging on Saturday 5 December 2026, with gates open from 8.30am to 4.30pm. The one-day agricultural and pastoral show is one of the Bay of Plenty's longest-running rural events, tracing its first show to around 1908.

Who runs it

The show is organised by the Rotorua A&P Association Inc., through its Executive Committee. The Association has staged the show annually for well over a century - including through the Covid period, when, according to organiser reporting, competitions were held without public attendance.

Who it's for and what's on

The show is positioned as a full-day family and rural-community outing that draws competitors from across the North Island. Per the organiser, the programme spans livestock (cattle and dairy-goat competitions, an alpaca display), equestrian events (horse and pony rides and western riding), shearing and wool handling, axemen and wood chopping, and vintage tractors and machinery. Alongside the competition rings are trade sites, food stalls, and entertainment including a balloonist and magician, the Rotorua Symphonic Band, a dog parade, the King and Queen of the Mountain race, and children's activities.

The venue

The organiser lists the show as located at the Agrodome in Ngongotaha, on the western side of Rotorua (141 Western Road). Note: an earlier listing recorded the venue as 'Riverdale Park', which does not match the organiser's own stated venue - the Agrodome showgrounds sit within that rural Ngongotaha setting. The site is roughly a 10-15 minute drive from central Rotorua via SH5/Western Road, with on-site grounds parking typical of showday events. Rotorua township offers the nearest concentration of accommodation, dining and services for out-of-town visitors, and Rotorua Airport provides the main air link to the district.

Why it matters

As a long-established fixture on the regional primary-industry calendar, the Rotorua A&P Show is a key annual gathering point for Bay of Plenty and wider North Island farming, equestrian and lifestyle communities, combining competitive livestock and rural-skills classes with a public showcase of the region's agricultural sector.
