Braemar Motor Inn

Braemar Motor Inn is a 23-unit motel at 152 Powderham Street in central New Plymouth. It sits inside the CBD street grid — trade listings describe it as roughly 300 metres from the downtown business area — which puts the TSB Showplace, Puke Ariki, the Len Lye Centre and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, the city's aquatic centre and the Coastal Walkway within walking distance.

### Accommodation

Units are self-contained and serviced, with kitchen facilities including a fridge and microwave, tea and coffee making, flat-screen TV, heating, ironing facilities and a private bathroom with shower. Some unit types are listed with a washing machine. Property facilities include free WiFi, free on-site parking, a guest laundry, barbecue facilities and a children's play area. Some booking-channel listings also reference airport transfers and a licensed restaurant and bar; inclusions of this kind change, so confirm them directly with the property before quoting them to a client.

### Meetings and events

Braemar Motor Inn does not advertise dedicated conference or meeting space, and it should not be treated as a venue. Its role in a MICE programme is accommodation — a compact, centrally located room block for delegates, speakers, crew or contractors attending events elsewhere in the city. At 23 units it suits small conferences, board and committee meetings, roadshows and site-visit teams rather than large residential conferences, and it works as overflow alongside larger properties.

### Notes for organisers

The central location is the main planning advantage: delegates can walk to most CBD venues, restaurants and the waterfront without transfers, which takes shuttle cost out of a small programme entirely. Self-contained units with kitchen facilities suit longer stays, project teams and multi-night installs. On-site parking is useful for groups driving in from elsewhere in Taranaki or arriving with equipment.

For group business, approach the motel directly for a room-block rate and confirm the unit mix, since configurations vary by room type. Pair it with New Plymouth venues for the meeting component of the programme.
