Brewda is a Korean dining bar at 93 Cashel Street in the Christchurch central city, located within The Terrace courtyard on the north bank of the Avon. It opened at the end of 2023 and describes itself as a bar and eatery serving a sharing menu of Korean fusion food.
### Cuisine and drinks
Brewda takes traditional Korean flavours and presents them with a modern, European-influenced treatment. The service model follows the Korean style of dining rather than a fixed entree-and-main structure: a group orders a range of dishes for the table and shares across them, which works well for mixed corporate parties. Fermentation is central to the kitchen — the chefs make all their own kimchi and pickles, and forage in the Red Zone in spring for wild onion and other produce to lay down for the year. Separate lunch and dinner menus are published. The bar side is a genuine part of the offer, with soju among the drinks selection. Gift cards are sold online.
### The space
The interior pairs industrial-style concrete walls with wooden booth seating and hanging planting, and features a paua mosaic designed by the Brewda team. The kitchen is open to the room. Independent listings tag the venue as being good for large groups, with a courtyard, and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free friendly. Exact seating capacity and any private-hire arrangement are not published, so these should be confirmed with the venue.
### Recognition
Within its first year of trading Brewda won Outstanding New Establishment at the Canterbury Hospitality Awards 2024. Owner Cian Curtin has previously cooked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Europe as well as in Australia and New Zealand fine dining.
### Practical detail
Brewda serves lunch and dinner seven days, listed at 11.30am to 2.30pm and 5.00pm to 9.30pm. Bookings are taken through the venue's online reservation system, and contact is 03 423 9555.
### Suitability for MICE
Brewda is a strong central-city option for corporate dinners and incentive groups: the shared-plate format handles varied group sizes, the courtyard setting adds an outdoor element in summer, and the recent award gives buyers a defensible reason to select it. Cashel Street is walkable from Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre and the CBD hotel cluster, so no transfer is required for most delegate programmes based around Christchurch venues. Confirm group capacity, any set-menu options and exclusive-use terms directly with the venue.
