Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is the city's public art gallery and one of central Christchurch's most distinctive event venues. Located on the corner of Worcester Boulevard and Montreal Street, its landmark glass façade and gallery spaces provide a striking backdrop for functions of many kinds.
The gallery offers several hire options. The Philip Carter Family Auditorium is a tiered space seating around 178, well suited to talks, seminars, presentations and projection-based sessions, with good natural acoustics. The dramatic Bayleys Knight Frank Foyer, with its sweeping glass frontage, can host up to about 500 guests for a cocktail reception or around 300 seated. Private exhibition viewings within the galleries can also be arranged, giving guests exclusive access to artworks.
These spaces suit corporate events, conferences and seminars, cocktail functions, gala and seated dinners, product launches, fashion shows, weddings and end-of-year celebrations. A central-city location, architectural character and cultural setting make the gallery a memorable option for meetings and incentive events. Availability is offered across most of the week, with the foyer typically used for evening functions outside public opening hours.
For planners seeking a venue with a strong sense of place, the gallery pairs professional event facilities with a genuine arts backdrop. See more Christchurch venues.
