Clarence St Theatre at 69 Clarence Street, Hamilton, is the city's only operational proscenium-arch theatre. Independently owned by the Clarence Street Theatre Trust, it serves both as a performing-arts venue and as a flexible space for conferences, cabaret functions and corporate events.
The auditorium reconfigures to suit the occasion. In standard theatre mode it seats 550 (406 in the stalls and 144 on the balcony); in restaurant/cabaret mode with tables of eight it seats 404 (260 stalls, 144 balcony); and in standing mode it holds up to 900. This flexibility makes the theatre suitable for AGMs and conference plenaries, product launches, awards dinners, graduations and live performance. Wheelchair access is provided, with allocated wheelchair seating in the level-one auditorium.
The proscenium stage, tiered seating and central Hamilton location suit organisations wanting a genuine theatre setting for a plenary session or a gala evening, as well as arts presenters. Its cabaret configuration lends itself to dinner-style functions and award nights where sightlines to a stage matter.
Clarence St Theatre is a distinctive choice for Hamilton conferences, presentations and formal dinners that benefit from a purpose-built stage. Browse more Hamilton venues.
