Dockland 5 is a marine services operation at 211 Port Road, Port Whangarei, that also offers a conference room for hire. It sits on the Hatea River in the heart of the Whangārei Marine Precinct.
Dockland 5 Marine is primarily a haul-out and hardstand yard with a 28-berth marina. It operates a 70-tonne travel lift and has capacity for 50-plus vessels on the hardstand, handling a wide range of boat sizes. A cluster of marine trades operates from within the yard, including a chandlery, a spar maker and rigging service, marine engineers, marine electrical contractors, boat builders, painters, osmosis repair and sandblasting. A barbecue is available on site.
That working-waterfront setting is the defining characteristic of the venue. Meetings here happen in the middle of an active boatyard on the river, not in a hotel precinct.
The hire space is a 65 square metre conference room accommodating up to 30 people, with a range of seating configurations available. Facilities include:
The room is marketed for board meetings, corporate negotiations, client meetings, interviews, business planning sessions, performance reviews, video conferences, HR mediations and informal meet-and-greets — a practical, single-room offering rather than a multi-space conference facility.
Dockland 5 fills a specific gap in the Whangārei market: an independent, well-equipped meeting room of genuine board-meeting size, with on-site catering, outside the CBD and away from hotel function space. For groups of up to 30 it works for full-day workshops, training sessions, planning days, interviews and hybrid or video meetings, with the café handling catering.
It also has an obvious relevance to the marine sector itself — supplier meetings, technical briefings and industry sessions held on the same site as the yard being discussed. Larger conferences and gala dinners will need a different venue; Dockland 5 is best treated as a compact meeting room with a working harbour outlook. See more Northland venues.
