Gear Street Union is an American-style diner and bar at 18 Gear Street in Petone, Lower Hutt, in the Wellington region. It occupies the former Wellington Motorcycles building, and the industrial heritage of the site carries through the fit-out — most notably a main bar built atop a full-size pickup truck.
The venue is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, with a menu of American-influenced and Kiwi diner fare such as macaroni cheese bites, buffalo chicken tenders and fish and chips, plus weekend breakfasts. Drinks are a core part of the offer, with craft cocktails, "taptails", and a large selection of beer and wine. It is also a dog-friendly venue.
Gear Street Union is part of Star Group, a New Zealand hospitality operator that runs a large collection of venues nationwide and offers the Star Social loyalty programme.
