Grater Goods is a plant-based butchery, deli and eatery in Christchurch, founded in 2018 by Flip Grater and Youssef Iskrane. It built its reputation making vegan charcuterie and cheeses — sopressa, kielbasa, "furkey", pastrami, faux gras, carrot lox, pâtés and spreads — and selling them alongside a dine-in menu. The operation is entirely plant-based.
### Important: location change
The listed address of 105 Orbell Street, Sydenham is the site Grater Goods occupied for several years, in a converted former glass factory in Sydenham's industrial streets. In March 2025 the business moved to 155 High Street, Christchurch Central and rebranded its dining side as GG Bistro, a French-bistro-influenced inner-city room. The Orbell Street address should be treated as historic: the company's own catering page now gives collection as the GG Bistro on High Street, accessible from the Little High car park. Planners should confirm the current trading address before directing guests.
### The offer
The deli and retail range remains the core of the business — house-made vegan meats, cheeses, pâtés and spreads — with a dine-in menu of seasonal specials alongside regular dishes, plus New Zealand and French wines, artisanal non-alcoholic drinks and local craft beer.
### Group and event catering
Grater Goods is genuinely set up for event catering, which is worth noting for planners:
Seated capacities, private dining rooms and exclusive-hire terms are not published; the venue welcomes both bookings and walk-ins.
### Suitability for MICE
A strong option for conference and meeting catering in Christchurch where plant-based, vegan or allergen-conscious catering is required — either as the whole offer or as a dedicated vegan component alongside a conventional caterer. Also viable for incentive-group grazing platters and networking functions. For seated group dining, contact the bistro directly to confirm numbers and the current address.
