Hāwea Flat Hall is a community hall at 552 Camphill Road, Hāwea Flat, in the Queenstown Lakes District between Wānaka and Lake Hāwea. It is owned and administered by Queenstown Lakes District Council, which describes it as a quintessential rural Kiwi community facility. The council's venue guide records that the hall was built in 1957.
The building has a total floor area of 223m2 and comprises a main hall with a stage, a club room used as a meeting room, a domestic-style kitchen and a small bar connected to the kitchen. Published capacities are banquet 100, theatre 120, cocktail 160 and meeting room 40. Hire times run from 8.00am to midnight. The whole venue or the meeting room alone can be booked, and QLDC notes the facility may be shared if the whole venue is not hired.
Whole-venue hire includes use of the hall, the kitchen, up to 100 in-house chairs, up to four 1.8m trestle tables and all electricity including heating. There is no in-house catering and no in-house audio-visual service, though the council can recommend caterers and AV suppliers familiar with its venues. Hirers may bring their own caterers, food and drink; a special licence is required to sell alcohol. Wi-Fi is not available. The venue has flat entry and a universal toilet, and there is street parking around the building. Hire rates are tiered across community, standard and commercial categories, with hourly, half-day and full-day options. Post-event cleaning is arranged by QLDC as part of the hire agreement, but hirers are responsible for setting up and putting away furniture and equipment.
Hāwea Flat Hall is a straightforward, low-cost hire suited to community meetings, workshops, training sessions, AGMs, regular classes and rural functions. It has been used for a wide range of ongoing bookings including youth programmes, karate, yoga and kickboxing. For business events it works best as a bare-bones space where the organiser brings in catering, AV and connectivity. Organisers seeking a fully serviced conference facility in the district will find better fits among the larger New Zealand venues, but for small to mid-sized meetings in the Upper Clutha it is a practical and accessible option.
