Northern Union

Northern Union is a modern gastro pub at 23 Wainui Road in Silverdale, on Auckland's northern fringe. It has been trading since 2014 and holds a Google rating of 4.1. The bar and dining area was designed by an award-winning architect, with a free-flowing, flexible contemporary layout — which is what makes it workable for events as well as regular trade. The venue is open seven days, midday until late.

Functions and events

Northern Union offers up to three private spaces for events, including an outdoor bar, catering for groups from 15 up to 100 guests. Food and beverage packages are built to suit the budget, and the venue can also provide a private bar for exclusive use, a courtesy van, and a DJ.

The courtesy van is worth flagging for organisers: transport is often the weak link for a Silverdale function, and having it available in-house removes a logistics problem.

Suitability

For meetings and events work, Northern Union suits end-of-year functions, team celebrations, client hospitality, birthdays and post-conference social programmes for groups on the Hibiscus Coast and the northern motorway corridor — the sort of event that needs a proper private space and a bar rather than a formal conference room. Its 15-to-100 range covers most small and mid-sized corporate social functions.
