The Ōtoromiro Hotel is a historic country hotel and restaurant at 52 Main Road, Governors Bay, on the Lyttelton Harbour side of Banks Peninsula. Established in 1870, it was for much of its history known as the Ocean View Family Hotel, and in its early days visitors travelled by ferry from Lyttelton to enjoy its pleasure gardens. The hotel has been independently owned by Jeremy Dyer since 2003.
Today the Ōtoromiro is known for classic pub fare, an extensive selection of local wines and beers, and harbour and hill views from its setting above Governors Bay. The dining room and grounds trade on the building's long heritage and relaxed rural atmosphere.
The hotel caters for a range of private functions, including dinner parties, wedding receptions, office parties, wakes, corporate planning meetings and birthday celebrations. Functions can be held in the Snug or the main restaurant, which seats up to 75 guests. For MICE organisers, it offers a characterful heritage venue for small conferences, planning days and group dinners a short drive from Christchurch and Lyttelton. Explore more Christchurch venues.
