Queens Park Cricket Pavilion (Southland Cricket Association)

Queens Park Cricket Pavilion

Queens Park Cricket Pavilion is the home venue of the Southland Cricket Association (SCA), located within Queens Park at 150 Gala Street, Invercargill. Alongside its role in Southland's club and representative cricket, the pavilion and the association's adjoining indoor cricket centre are available for private and community hire.

The venue The pavilion suits mid-sized social and corporate functions rather than large-scale conferences. It has been used for corporate lunches, weddings and Christmas functions, with a typical seated capacity in the order of 50 to 100 guests depending on room layout. Alcohol is permitted on site and a bond is required for hire.

Hire terms Southland Cricket Association publishes indicative hire rates: around $600 for a full day or evening function (plus bond), $900 for weddings requiring prior-day set-up (with access from Friday through Sunday), and $250 per day for weekday meetings. The adjoining Indoor Cricket Centre can also be hired separately, primarily for club and school training sessions, work parties and individual use by SCA-affiliated teams and players.

MICE relevance Given its capacity and pricing, the pavilion is best suited to small meetings, club functions, team days and modest social events rather than large conferences or incentive programmes. Its parkland setting in Queens Park - one of Invercargill's best-known public green spaces - gives it a relaxed, informal character.

For organisers seeking a straightforward, cricket-club-run function space in Invercargill for meetings or private events, Queens Park Cricket Pavilion is worth considering alongside other Invercargill venues.
