The Rangiora Town Hall sits on the corner of High and King Streets in the centre of Rangiora, the main town of the Waimakariri District about 30 minutes north of Christchurch. It is owned and operated by Waimakariri District Council and functions as North Canterbury's principal civic performance and function complex.
The hall was designed by architect H St A Murray and opened in 1926 at a cost of £10,850. Over the following century it hosted community meetings and live performances, and at various times housed the Rangiora library and the offices of the Rangiora Borough Council. It holds a Heritage New Zealand Category II listing.
The building closed in 2012 for seismic strengthening and extension, and the restored complex reopened on 7 March 2015, retaining the original auditorium while adding new dressing rooms and audience seating. The hall marked its 100-year milestone in 2026.
The function room has a full bar and catering service. The building is accessible, with car parking at the rear plus more than 200 additional spaces at the Council library car park.
Rangiora Town Hall covers the full range of North Canterbury business events: a 357-seat auditorium for conference plenaries, prizegivings and performances; a function room for seated dinners, cocktail receptions and boardroom-scale meetings; and four smaller rooms for breakouts or committee work. Council operation, inclusive set-up and ample parking make it a practical option for regional conferences, training days and civic functions. For city-based alternatives see Christchurch venues.
