The Redwoods Treehouse is an exclusive-hire event venue at 1415 State Highway 1, Warkworth, about an hour north of central Auckland. Suspended within a redwood grove, the pod-shaped structure was designed by Pacific Environments Architects and built in just 66 days for an advertising campaign. Its design and setting attracted immediate international coverage and multiple awards, and it has since been featured in architecture and design publications worldwide.
### Important for planners: it is not a restaurant
Despite being listed in some directories as a restaurant, the venue states plainly that it does not open as one. Access is by appointment only and the Treehouse is available for full venue hire alone. Any dining is delivered by the venue's preferred catering suppliers, who are familiar with the site and its kitchen.
### Capacities and spaces
Published figures are:
Ceremony options include the grounds below the Treehouse, the surrounding woods, or the Treehouse itself, depending on numbers.
### Facilities and inclusions
Hire is priced at $3,000 plus GST for a full day, with variations for filming, photoshoots and proposals quoted on request. Included are exclusive use of the venue, flexible pack-in and pack-out, a pre-clean and garden maintenance, power and night lighting, outdoor heating in the Treehouse, toilet access, four 1.8m round dining tables and 32 chairs, a full commercial kitchen with stove and fridges, and post-event cleaning. Food, beverage and staffing are additional.
Other practical features: roll-down clear side curtains for mild weather (the structure is open to the elements in severe weather), a wheelchair-friendly bathroom and access ramp, three toilets on site, free parking at the base of the Treehouse, and dedicated gate access for coaches. The venue is live music and DJ friendly. Liquor licensing is supplied by the catering company — the venue is not BYO. Departure time is 1am.
### Suitability for MICE
The Treehouse is positioned for corporate events, product launches, award nights, private parties and weddings. For incentive and executive programmes, the 32-seat private dining configuration is the natural fit: a high-impact, low-headcount venue with a genuinely distinctive setting that photographs well for brand content. Marquee provision extends the site to larger conference dinners and launch events. The venue lists a suppliers page and provides an information pack on request, and coach access means groups can be shuttled in from Auckland or from Matakana-area accommodation.
Because catering is restricted to preferred suppliers and there is no on-site food and beverage team, budgets need to be built from the hire fee plus a separate catering and staffing quote.
