Shining Peak Brewing is a brewery and eatery at 59 Gill Street in the New Plymouth CBD. It is the original venue of the Taranaki-born brewery, with an on-site brewery and food prepared by head chef Freddie Ponder to pair with the beers. The brewery also has a second venue, Sumner Post Office, in Christchurch.
The name draws on Māori words: tara (mountain peak) and naki, from ngaki, meaning shining. The brewery says it has won awards including gold medals at the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards, and donates 5% of monthly beer revenue to Taranaki organisations through The 5% Project.
It opens Monday to Friday from 11:30am and weekends from 11am, until late. Tables can be booked online; keg hire and wholesale are available. Function capacity is not published. Phone 06 927 3133. See also New Plymouth venues.
