Ski Time Restaurant is at 43 Racecourse Avenue in Methven, Mid Canterbury, and forms part of the wider Ski Time property, which also takes in lodge accommodation, villas and apartments, and conference facilities. Methven is the service village for the Mt Hutt ski area, around 90 minutes from Christchurch.
The restaurant opens seven nights a week from 5pm. The room is built around an open fire and is used by both visitors and Methven locals. An outdoor deck faces Mt Hutt and is used for après-ski drinks in the shoulder season and alfresco dining over summer.
The kitchen focuses on South Island produce, with salmon, lamb, pork, chicken and beef dishes on the main menu — for example a beetroot-marinated Akaroa salmon fillet served with pea purée and gourmet potatoes. A lighter menu and a children's menu are also offered, which is useful for mixed groups and for delegates wanting a smaller evening meal.
Ski Time runs the Methven Conference Centre on the same site. The main seminar room takes up to 80 people standing, 50 theatre style, 20 classroom style and 16 in a U-shape or boardroom layout, and several breakout rooms are available alongside it. The venue markets itself for weddings, private parties, business functions and conferences, and offers a range of room configurations and support services.
On-site accommodation covers standard and deluxe rooms in twin, double, triple and family configurations, all with private ensuites, plus villas and apartments immediately adjacent. That allows a small conference group to be accommodated, meet and dine without moving between sites.
Ski Time suits small to medium conferences, team offsites and incentive groups of up to about 50 delegates in a single session — particularly programmes that pair meeting time with skiing, cycling or other alpine activity.
