Taupo DeBretts Spa Resort is a family-run hot springs resort and holiday park at 76 Napier-Taupo Road (State Highway 5). It is about 800 metres from Lake Taupō, has views towards the mountains of Tongariro National Park, and is roughly five minutes' drive from the town centre. Its main draws are the Taupo DeBretts Hot Springs and a day spa, so for business travel it is best treated as a leisure, wellness or incentive stop rather than a conference venue.
The resort has 42 free-standing accommodation units, including motel units, superior studios, deluxe family units and cabins. It also has powered and tent sites for motorhomes and camping.
The hot springs draw on natural mineral water from the Onekeneke valley. Facilities include:
Savour Café serves snacks and coffee.
People have bathed in the Onekeneke valley springs for more than a century, and the valley was a bathing site for Māori long before that. The present pool complex dates from 1958. The current owners, Barry and Carol Kirkland, bought the complex in 1987 and redeveloped both the pools and the holiday park.
Neither the resort's own website nor any other source we checked lists dedicated conference or meeting rooms. The resort is therefore best suited to incentive activities, group wellness sessions, spa packages and relaxed accommodation for small groups visiting Taupō.
