Tauranga Country Lodge is a three-bedroom boutique bed and breakfast at 1023 Upper Ohauiti Road, set in rolling hill country about 15 minutes' drive from the Tauranga CBD. The lodge is let on an exclusive-use basis - one group at a time - which makes it a small-group retreat property rather than a conventional hotel.
The lodge accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms, with wrap-around patios and a private lounge and dining area for the booking group. From the site there are views across Tauranga City, Mauao (Mount Maunganui), the Kaimai Ranges and out to the Pacific; on clear days the outlook extends to the Coromandel Peninsula, Karewa Island, the Aldermen Islands and the Mayor Island Marine Reserve.
The three rooms are named for native birds and are sold as tiered packages, all including breakfast, the private lounge and dining room, and access to the pool and tennis court. Rates published by the lodge:
| Package | Configuration | Beds | Rate | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Kereru | 1 room, 2 guests | 1 king | $400 per night | | Fantail | 2 rooms, 4 guests | 1 king; 1 California king or 2 king singles | $600 per night | | Takahe | 3 rooms, 6 guests | 1 king; 1 California king or 2 king singles; 1 double | $900 per night |
Bathroom facilities are shared across the group, with two separate toilets.
Breakfast is prepared each morning by the host using fresh local ingredients and served in the guest living and dining area; the packages list it as continental. Private dining is offered as a bespoke enhancement. There is no public restaurant or bar on site.
The lodge publishes no meeting rooms, conference capacities or delegate packages, and at three bedrooms it is not a conference venue. Its MICE relevance is narrow but real: exclusive-use booking, a private lounge and dining table, and private dining make it workable for executive retreats, board or strategy sessions of up to six people, small incentive rewards, and hosting VIP speakers or guests attached to a larger Bay of Plenty programme. The pool, tennis court and farm setting supply informal downtime without leaving the property.
Best suited to very small incentive and retreat groups, executive getaways and event add-ons where privacy and an elevated rural setting close to Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are the point. Organisers with more than six delegates, or who need AV, breakout space or conference catering, will need to pair it with a larger venue nearby.
