The Famous Grouse Hotel is a country hotel on the corner of Gerald and William Streets in Lincoln, a university town in the Selwyn district south-west of Christchurch. There has been a pub on the corner for more than 140 years; the original, dating to 1915, was known as the Perthshire Arms. That building was badly damaged in the 2010–2011 Canterbury earthquakes and subsequently demolished, and a new hotel was designed and built on the site, reopening as The Famous Grouse Hotel.
The modern hotel offers accommodation with private bathrooms, a main bar, a garden bar and a separate restaurant serving gastro-pub food throughout the day from breakfast onwards. Rooms include work desks, TVs, tea and coffee facilities and free WiFi.
With its bar, garden bar, restaurant and on-site accommodation, The Famous Grouse suits casual group dining, social functions and overnight stays for those visiting Lincoln University or events in the Selwyn district. For organisers, its rooms and dining under one roof make it a practical option close to Christchurch. Confirm function areas and group bookings directly with the hotel.
