The Landing is a purpose-built entertainment complex at 650 Lake Terrace, Wharewaka, on the southern edge of Taupō. It occupies roughly 1.19 hectares of freehold land at the junction of State Highway 1, Lake Terrace and Anzac Memorial Drive — the road to Taupō Airport — with around 3,713sqm of buildings constructed between 2021 and 2023 and on-site parking, supplemented by leased overflow parking on adjacent land.
The site is a multi-tenant destination rather than a single operator. Its occupants include Dropzone Taupō, which runs tenpin bowling, a kids' bounce park, a Ninja course, an entertainment arcade, an indoor playground and Gutter Balls Bar & Bistro; The Cave VR Studio; the Swingers Putt Putt mini golf course; Lil Luna's Gelateria; Café Lacus; and Mavericks Gastro Pub & Restaurant. A laundromat and an EV charging station for four vehicles round out the tenancy mix.
### Conferences and functions
Business events at The Landing run through Mavericks Gastro Pub & Conference Centre. The operator describes the conference facility as equipped with large-screen TVs and AV gear, with views across Lake Taupō to the mountains, and states capacity for 120 delegates to conference and dine. Commercial marketing material for the property likewise records the pub and conference centre as licensed for 120.
The obvious draw for MICE organisers is that the meeting space and the activity options sit on the same site. Mavericks positions itself as a one-stop conference option precisely because mini golf, tenpin bowling, virtual reality gaming and a dessert bar are all a short walk from the conference room — a straightforward answer for a half-day meeting with a team-building afternoon, or a conference dinner with entertainment attached.
### Practical notes
The complex is about a 10-minute drive from central Taupō and close to Taupō Airport, with high visibility and easy access from State Highway 1 for delegates driving in from elsewhere in the North Island. Event enquiries are handled by The Landing's events address.
