Vic Road Kitchen occupies a heritage building at 57–59 Victoria Road in Devonport, on Auckland's North Shore. It was founded by local sisters Harriet and Lucy Byrnes, working with British head chef Ian Shields and bar manager Craig Wright, and opened in one of Devonport's older commercial buildings, retaining exposed brickwork and soft lighting that reflect the area's historic character.
The kitchen serves Mediterranean-inspired food built around fresh, seasonal New Zealand produce, with a menu that changes daily and a focus on simple, well-made plates including housemade pasta, seafood and meat dishes. The wine list rotates frequently around boutique New Zealand and international selections.
The restaurant trades Friday to Sunday, noon until late, and takes bookings by phone in the afternoon and evening; an online booking system was still in development at time of writing. It is a small, chef-led neighbourhood restaurant suited to relaxed weekend dining in Devonport village rather than large group functions.
