Zatori is a boutique lodge, restaurant and event venue on a rise above the Collingwood estuary in Golden Bay, at the north-western corner of the South Island. It occupies a converted historic building and looks out over Collingwood village toward Farewell Spit, roughly five minutes' drive from the village centre. It is a practical base for the Heaphy Track, Kahurangi National Park, Farewell Spit and the northern end of the Abel Tasman.
Zatori offers a range from single rooms to premium suites. Listings describe four luxury suites with private decks and ensuites, and an East Wing of eight rooms with bunk or queen configurations sharing three bathrooms, a kitchen and two lounges. That mix lets an organiser house senior people and a wider group under one roof at different price points, which is what most Golden Bay retreat groups need.
Zatori actively markets to conferences and retreats and sells single-day workshop use through to week-long private packages. The property is fully licensed, can dine up to 60 indoors, and provides three meals a day plus morning and afternoon teas, with a large boutique beer and wine list and an in-house barista serving Mojo coffee. A big Weber barbecue and extensive decks and outdoor areas extend the dining options in good weather.
The main lounge is used as the plenary space, with presentations projected onto the wall; a library/lounge and a second kitchen in the shared wing serve as breakout areas. Unlimited free wifi covers the property. Morning yoga can be arranged, and complimentary paddleboards, kayaks and bikes are available. The site is private, with helicopter access to the lawn shown on the venue's own material. Weddings, team-building days, board meetings, concerts and anniversaries are all hosted, at scales the operators describe as anywhere from ten guests to two hundred.
Alongside group catering, Zatori runs a licensed restaurant that opens seasonally to the public, with a rotating menu and wine-matched dinner events. Guest facilities include a sauna and hot tub, barbecue area, and massage and wellness treatments on request.
Zatori suits small residential retreats, board meetings, incentive rewards and team-building programmes taking exclusive use of the lodge, with indoor dining capacity of 60 as the practical ceiling for a seated function. Golden Bay's remoteness is the point for distraction-free planning sessions, but factor in the drive over Tākaka Hill from Nelson when building an itinerary. Enquiries and quotes are handled directly by the operator.
