Woodhill Mountain Bike Park is a commercially operated trail network set in Woodhill Forest, on Auckland's west coast around 40 minutes' drive from the city centre. It is the busiest mountain biking destination in the Auckland region, with more than 60 tracks and over 50km of trail cut through pine plantation.
### Riding
The trails are predominantly narrow flowing singletrack on a sandy base, which is the park's practical advantage: the sand drains fast, so the network stays rideable after rain and through winter in a way that clay-based trails around Auckland do not. Grades run across the full range, from beginner-friendly to advanced, and the park publishes short, medium and long suggested loops — the longest around 15km. Entry is by trail pass, bought on site.
### Facilities
The main entrance has a large carpark and an adjacent park village containing bike hire, a workshop with on-site mechanics, a pro shop, a small café and an information centre where passes and maps are issued. The hire fleet is substantial — the park lists more than 75 hire bikes — which matters for group bookings, since a corporate group generally arrives without equipment.
### Groups and corporate work
Woodhill runs a dedicated groups programme and states it offers tailored packages for corporate, school and club groups of any age or ability, year round, with experience in group guiding. Guides can pitch a ride to the group's level, and instruction is available for people who have not ridden a mountain bike before. That mixed-ability handling is the key point for planners: a corporate group will typically include confident riders and complete novices, and the network is broad enough to split them.
Note that the park's own site has at times listed coaching as temporarily unavailable while indicating an intention to resume it, so confirm the current status of formal coaching sessions when booking.
### Suitability for MICE
Woodhill works well as an incentive activity or a conference free-day option for Auckland programmes, particularly where the group is active and wants something more substantial than a sightseeing tour. Bike hire, mechanics, guiding and a café on one site keep the logistics simple, and the all-weather sandy base reduces the risk of a wash-out compared with other outdoor options. Its west Auckland location combines readily with Muriwai or Piha for a full day, or with other Auckland activities.
