Skydive Auckland operates a tandem skydiving drop zone at West Auckland Airport on Green Road, Parakai, near Helensville. It sits roughly 40 to 45 minutes' drive north-west of central Auckland, on the edge of the Kaipara Harbour and within sight of both the west coast and, on a clear day, a long stretch of the upper North Island.
### The experience
The core product is the tandem skydive, where a first-time jumper is harnessed to a qualified tandem master for the whole flight and descent. Skydive Auckland offers jumps up to 18,000ft, which it describes as the highest tandem altitude available in New Zealand, alongside lower-altitude options for groups working to a tighter budget or schedule. From full altitude the freefall runs up to around 75 seconds at speeds above 200km/h, followed by a canopy flight back to the airfield.
Jumps are flown in a 17-seat turbine aircraft, which matters for group logistics: a sizeable party can be lifted in a small number of loads rather than trickling through the day. Clear-weather views take in the Waitematā and Manukau harbours, Waiheke and Great Barrier islands, and on the best days Mt Ruapehu to the south. All equipment and a safety briefing are provided, and photo and video packages are available on the day.
### Groups and corporate work
The operator runs a dedicated groups programme aimed at team building, staff incentives and social clubs, with group pricing, free return transport from Auckland City and barbecue facilities on site. That combination — transport, a place for non-jumping colleagues to wait and watch, and catering in one location — makes the drop zone workable as a half-day off-site rather than just an individual booking. There is on-site parking for spectators. Skydive Auckland also runs a charity skydive programme used by teams fundraising as a group.
The business is a member of the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand, which lists it among inbound-ready operators.
### Suitability for MICE
Skydiving is a self-selecting activity, so it works best as one option within an incentive programme or a conference free-afternoon menu rather than a compulsory whole-group item. With transport, a spectator area and barbecue on site, it suits high-performer incentive rewards, milestone celebrations and adventure-themed reward days for Auckland-based programmes. Weather is the main scheduling risk, so build in a fallback slot. See other Auckland activities for pairing options.
