About Urbanaut Brewing Co.

About this place

Urbanaut Brewing Co. is an independent craft brewery and taproom in Kingsland, central Auckland. The brewery has been producing beer since 2017 and operates from 597 New North Road, with an accessible entrance on Western Springs Road — a short distance from the CBD and within walking distance of Kingsland station and Eden Park.

### The offer

Urbanaut runs a working brewery with a public taproom attached, so visitors drink alongside the production floor rather than in a separate bar. The beer list rotates and covers a broad range, from hazy pale ales through to stouts, and the taproom pours seasonal and one-off batches that do not reach general distribution. The tasting area has a retro 1970s fit-out. Food is handled in-house by Burgernaut, which serves smashburgers and loaded fries, so a group can eat and drink on site without an external caterer.

The brewery also sells wholesale into the New Zealand trade, and its beers are widely available beyond the taproom.

### Tours and group visits

The bookable experience is a hosted 60-minute brewery tour and tasting. A staff member — sometimes one of the owners — walks the group through the brewing process, the ingredients and the fermentation tanks, with five 125ml tastings of a curated selection of Urbanaut beers along the way. The tour is for over-18s only. Group size on the standard tour is capped at ten people, and private tours are available. After the tour, guests can stay on in the taproom for further tastings, pints and food at additional cost.

The ten-person cap on the standard tour is the key planning constraint: a larger delegate group would need to be split across sequential tours or handled as a private arrangement directly with the brewery.

### Suitability for MICE

Urbanaut works well as a short, low-effort inclusion in an Auckland programme — a pre-dinner activity for a small incentive group, a partner programme item, or a relaxed close to a conference day. The tour has real content rather than being a token walk-through, and the on-site food offer means a group can settle in afterwards without moving venues. Its central location makes it easy to combine with other Auckland activities or with a dinner in Kingsland or Ponsonby. For groups larger than ten, contact the brewery directly to confirm what can be arranged.
