About Reyburn Art Studio (Northland Society of Arts)

Reyburn House is the home of the Northland Society of Arts and its art gallery, set on the Hatea River in the heart of Whangārei. The house itself is historically significant — built between 1865 and 1875, it is described as the oldest surviving early-settler home along the Hatea River and holds a Heritage New Zealand Category 2 listing. The Northland Society of Arts took over the building in the 1960s, and the restored Reyburn House Art Gallery opened in November 1966.

The gallery runs a changing monthly programme of exhibitions year-round, showcasing national and local artists, and includes a gift shop of regularly refreshed work. It also hosts classes and workshops, and a Northland potters group maintains a permanent working space on site. Entry is free, with donations welcomed.

For MICE and incentive organisers in Northland, Reyburn House offers a cultural and heritage experience that can enrich a conference or incentive itinerary — a gallery visit, an art or pottery workshop, or a distinctive heritage setting for a small group activity. It adds a local, arts-focused dimension to delegate programmes in Whangārei.
