A closed-door national summit on industrial control system and operational technology cybersecurity, run by the NZ ICS Cyber Technical Network at the Lower Hutt Events Centre.
The 2026 NZ ICS/OT Cyber Summit is set for Wednesday 4 November 2026, running 8:30am to 7:00pm at the Lower Hutt Events Centre on Laings Road. It is an in-person, closed-door event focused on the cybersecurity of industrial control systems and operational technology, with the organiser expecting roughly 150 to 200 practitioners and information shared under a TLP: Amber handling convention.
The summit is run by the NZ ICS Cyber Technical Network, an industry-led group that has been active since 2019 and lists Peter Jackson as its organiser. According to the network's own site, it promotes the sharing and understanding of ICS and OT cybersecurity in New Zealand and is supported by SANS ICS and SGS ECL Cyber. The 2026 summit builds on earlier editions held between 2023 and 2025 and a 2019 summit in Rotorua.
The network's audience spans IT, OT and ICS professionals, owner-operators, vendors and service providers across both critical and non-critical industries. The organiser pitches talks at intermediate practitioners and explicitly excludes basic "IT versus OT" introductions. The draft agenda runs an opening keynote, sequential and then concurrent talks, concurrent panels, eleven concurrent round tables, an afternoon panel and a closing keynote, before drinks and nibbles from 5:00pm. At the time of writing the speaker, panel and round-table line-ups are listed as to be confirmed, with an open call for presenters. Attendee registration is through a live Eventbrite listing.
The Lower Hutt Events Centre sits in central Lower Hutt beside Riddiford Garden, with interconnecting event rooms, an atrium and an adjoining Town Hall, high-speed wifi, on-site AV and technical support. Lower Hutt lies in the Hutt Valley to the northeast of central Wellington, roughly 15 km from the Wellington CBD, with the Hutt Valley commuter rail line and State Highway 2 linking the two; Wellington Airport is further south across the harbour. Central Lower Hutt offers nearby dining and a range of accommodation for out-of-town delegates, and the city centre is walkable from the venue.
Specialist, community-run technical summits like this one anchor New Zealand's growing cyber and critical-infrastructure events calendar outside the main Auckland and Wellington CBD circuits. Its return to the Wellington region, drawing national and international OT security practitioners to a suburban events centre, shows the Hutt Valley competing for genuinely national sector conferences.
