Bidfood New Zealand's Beyond the Plate Trade Show stops in Rotorua on Monday 10 August 2026, 12-4pm, at the Energy Events Centre, one of 16 regional foodservice trade shows the distributor runs each year.
Bidfood New Zealand will bring its Beyond the Plate Trade Show to Rotorua on Monday 10 August 2026, running from 12pm to 4pm at the Energy Events Centre on Queens Drive in the Government Gardens. According to Bidfood's published 2026 schedule, the Rotorua date is one leg of a nationwide series of foodservice trade shows staged between April and September.
The event is organised by Bidfood New Zealand, the foodservice wholesaler and distributor. Bidfood states that it runs 16 Beyond the Plate Trade Shows across regional New Zealand each year, alongside its larger Auckland Industry Event, 'Taste of Summer'. The 2026 regional circuit runs from Queenstown in April through to Taupo in September, with the Rotorua show falling in a busy August window that also includes Tauranga (11 August), Whangarei and Waipapa (25 August) and Hamilton (27 August).
The shows are aimed at foodservice professionals: chefs, caterers, restaurateurs and other trade customers. Bidfood says attendees can discover new ingredients and menu solutions, collect recipe cards and product samples, watch hands-on demonstrations, and meet New Zealand foodservice manufacturers directly. Independent trade publication Restaurant & Cafe has described the Bidfood trade shows as a place for the industry to be inspired and educated, and to network with customers and suppliers showcasing new products. Registration for the 2026 shows is handled through Bidfood's dedicated event site.
The Energy Events Centre is Rotorua's main venue for conferences, exhibitions, banquets and concerts. It opened in February 2007 and can hold up to 3,500 people, giving a single-day trade show ample floor space for supplier stands and demonstration areas. The centre sits on Queens Drive within the Government Gardens, close to Rotorua's lakefront and central city, which places attendees within easy reach of the city's accommodation and hospitality precinct. Its central-city location and on-site event parking make it a practical stop for trade visitors travelling in from across the Bay of Plenty and central North Island for the day.
For New Zealand's business-events and foodservice sectors, Bidfood's regional roadshow is a recurring fixture that brings suppliers and hospitality operators together outside the main-centre calendar. Anchoring the Rotorua leg at the Energy Events Centre keeps a significant trade audience circulating through one of the region's flagship MICE venues, reinforcing Rotorua's role as a host city for business events beyond its better-known leisure tourism.
