Future CX Summit NZ shifts to the Aotea Centre for 20-22 October 2026

MICE editorial — 23 August 2026 Auckland Tier A

Aventedge's Future CX Summit NZ runs 20 and 21 October 2026 at the Aotea Centre in central Auckland, with a workshop day on 22 October. The organiser's site contradicts the register listing on both date and venue, and the move puts the two-stream CX and contact centre summit in a midtown venue weeks after the City Rail Link opens.

The Future CX Summit NZ is scheduled for 20 and 21 October 2026 at the Aotea Centre in central Auckland, with a workshop day on 22 October, according to organiser Aventedge's event site. The date and venue held in the register listing — 21 September 2026 at the Viaduct Events Centre — do not match the organiser's published information on either count.

The listing detail appears to have been carried over from the 2025 edition, which ran on 22 and 23 October 2025 at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre on Halsey Street. For 2026 the summit moves off the waterfront, and the Aotea Centre location and October dates are repeated in the site footer on every page of the organiser's site.

The 2026 session programme had not been published at the time of writing. The agenda page returns no session listing and is marked noindex, and the speaker grid on the Customer Contact stream page is headed "2025 Speakers". The organiser has published its 2026 framing, however: both stream pages carry a "Key Focus Areas in 2026" section, and the site's meta description states the summit "goes beyond the hype to explore how organisations are using AI today, where it accelerates value, where it falls short, and how it can be adopted in ways that genuinely complement customer-facing operations."

Who runs it

Aventedge is a business-to-business conference producer working across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and London. Its own site lists programme areas including human resources, infrastructure, public sector, health, aged care, insurance and technology, and it produces events under related brands including Salus Events and Women Leader Summit. The summit site lists an Auckland phone line and an info@aventedge.com contact.

The Future CX Summit is an established property in that portfolio rather than a first edition. The site carries a 2024 post-show report and a written recap of the 2025 summit, putting the 2026 event at least the third edition under the same name.

Contact Centre Network New Zealand is listed as media partner and CCNNZ chief executive Elias Kanaris appears in the speaker faculty. Salesforce is listed as platinum sponsor, with Jabra, Zoom, Zendesk, Probe, Outsource Fiji and Digital Island among the other sponsor tiers, alongside an exhibitor floor.

Who it's for

The summit runs two parallel streams — a Customer Experience Theatre and a Customer Care Theatre — with delegates able to move between both across the two summit days. The organiser asks registrants to nominate a preferred stream so rooms can be sized accordingly.

The faculty carried on the site is drawn from corporate and public sector customer functions rather than the vendor side. Organisations represented include Xero, Kiwibank, TSB, Spark NZ, Fonterra, Mercury, Contact Energy, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council, Auckland Airport, Watercare, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, NZQA, Toitū Te Whenua, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Whakarongorau Aotearoa, Mitre 10, The Warehouse Group, SkyCity, Trade Me, Flybuys, Zip Co, Lion, Goodman Fielder, LIC, Tonkin + Taylor, NZ Couriers and Fisher Funds. Titles run from chief customer officer and chief data and analytics officer down to contact centre and channel managers.

The organiser's Customer Experience stream overview page, which still carries 2025 framing, describes that stream as bringing together more than 100 CX leaders. No attendance figure for the combined 2026 event has been published.

The venue

The Aotea Centre sits at 50 Mayoral Drive on Aotea Square and is operated by Auckland Live, part of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. The building houses the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre and the Herald Theatre alongside foyer space and flexible meeting rooms; capacity figures published by Auckland Conventions span roughly 60 to just over 2,100 people depending on the space configured.

Auckland Live lists venue foyers as open 8.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays, with the box office open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The venue page publishes live space counts for Auckland Transport's Civic and Victoria Street car parks, and Auckland Live hosts both a standard virtual tour and a separate accessibility virtual tour of the building.

Transport access changes materially in the weeks before the summit. Auckland Council's OurAuckland confirmed the City Rail Link opens on 13 September 2026, roughly five weeks ahead of the event. Te Waihorotiu Station, at Victoria and Wellesley Streets, sits beside Aotea Square within walking distance of the Aotea Centre. The venue's midtown Queen Street position also changes the walking geography for delegates who book accommodation on the assumption of a Viaduct or Wynyard Quarter location.

Why it matters for New Zealand MICE

The move is a concrete example of venue churn among repeat commercial summits: a two-day conference with an exhibition floor shifting from a waterfront events centre to a council-operated CBD venue between editions. Venues and suppliers tracking recurring October business in Auckland cannot assume continuity of site year on year.

It is also a data-hygiene case. A register listing that reproduced the prior year's venue and an unrelated September date would have sent delegates, and any supplier planning around them, to the wrong side of the city on the wrong day. The organiser's own site remains the controlling record.

The timing puts the summit among the first significant Auckland business events to run after the City Rail Link opens, in a venue directly served by one of the two new city centre stations. How midtown venues such as the Aotea Centre convert that rail access into delegate attendance is a question the 2026 spring conference season will start to answer.
