RESONATE '26 brings insurance innovation to Takapuna's B:HIVE

MICE editorial — 29 September 2026 Auckland Tier A

Simfuni's half-day RESONATE '26 Insurance Innovation Summit returns to the B:HIVE at Smales Farm, Takapuna on 22 October 2026, gathering insurance decision-makers for sessions on regulation, AI and insurtech, with speakers including ICNZ's Kris Faafoi and the FSC's Kirk Hope.

A half-day summit on the future of insurance

The RESONATE '26 Insurance Innovation Summit runs on Thursday 22 October 2026 at the B:HIVE building, Smales Farm, in Takapuna on Auckland's North Shore. According to the event site, doors open at 1:00pm and the formal programme closes at 4:30pm, followed by drinks and canapes.

The organisers describe it as a "fast-moving half-day of fresh perspectives, practical insight and lively conversation" on the innovations reshaping insurance, from AI and data analytics to regulation and customer engagement.

Who runs it

The summit is "presented by Simfuni, in association with InsurTech New Zealand," per the event listing. Simfuni is a New Zealand insurtech company that operates an insurance premium payment and funding platform and has been the summit's host in prior years, with InsurTech New Zealand as its industry partner. RESONATE has run in earlier editions as a sector innovation gathering.

Who it's for and the programme

The event is aimed at insurance professionals and senior decision-makers, including C-suite leaders and strategy, operations and business-development roles, as well as insurtech firms seeking industry connections.

The published agenda features sessions titled Regulation and the Road Ahead, AI in Action: Beyond the Hype, a Tech Decisions in the Boardroom panel, View from the World, and Building to a Billion, interspersed with three insurtech product demonstrations. Named speakers include Kris Faafoi (ICNZ CEO), Kirk Hope (Financial Services Council CEO) and Shaun Quincey (Simfuni CEO), alongside representatives from the FMA, Deloitte, Stripe, Federato and Insurtech Australia, with Madison Malone of NZME as MC.

Venue, transport and accommodation

The B:HIVE is a purpose-built collaborative workspace within the Smales Farm business park at 74 Taharoto Road, Takapuna. The campus sits directly alongside the Smales Farm station on Auckland's Northern Busway, giving rapid bus access to and from the CBD and wider North Shore, and is close to the Northern Motorway (SH1) for those driving; on-site parking is available and the organisers publish a venue and parking map for delegates.

Takapuna's town centre and waterfront, a short distance away, offer the nearest concentration of hotels, dining and accommodation for out-of-town delegates, making the North Shore location workable for a national audience without requiring a CBD base.

Why it matters in NZ MICE

RESONATE is one of the more established sector-specific business events on New Zealand's financial-services calendar, and its return underlines the North Shore's B:HIVE as a credible corporate-events venue outside the Auckland CBD. Its concentrated half-day format, drawing insurance and insurtech leadership into one room, is a useful example of the compact, high-value industry summit that anchors much of New Zealand's domestic MICE activity.
