APMP 42nd General Assembly 2026

MICE editorial — 12 October 2026 Wellington Tier A

The 42nd Asia Pacific Metrology Programme General Assembly (APMP 2026) runs 14–21 November 2026 at the InterContinental Wellington, hosted by the Measurement Standards Laboratory of New Zealand (MSL). The week-long metrology congress is expected to draw more than 400 delegates from over 38 economies.

A metrology congress comes to Wellington

The 42nd Asia Pacific Metrology Programme General Assembly and Related Activities, known as APMP 2026, takes place at the InterContinental Wellington from 14 to 21 November 2026. It is a week-long international gathering of the national measurement science community, following the 41st edition held in Incheon, Republic of Korea in 2025.

Who runs it

The congress is hosted by the Measurement Standards Laboratory of New Zealand (MSL), the country's national metrology institute, which confirms on the official event site (apmp2026.nz) that it is hosting the 42nd Asia Pacific Metrology Programme General Assembly. The Asia Pacific Metrology Programme itself is a regional grouping of national metrology institutes whose members rotate the hosting of the annual assembly.

Who it is for and the programme

The event draws measurement scientists, laboratory directors and standards officials from the region's national metrology institutes. According to MSL, the week is expected to bring around 400 delegates from over 38 economies. The official programme is structured in three parts: technical committee meetings and workshops from Saturday 14 to Wednesday 18 November, a symposium on Thursday 19 November, and the General Assembly on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November.

Venue and logistics

The confirmed venue is the InterContinental Wellington, a waterfront hotel in the central business district close to Lambton Quay and the city's harbour. Wellington International Airport sits a short distance to the south-east of the CBD, and the central location places delegates within walking distance of accommodation, dining and the waterfront precinct. This logistics detail is provided as neutral context only.

Why it matters in NZ MICE

A week-long association congress with 400-plus international delegates from more than 38 economies represents a substantial multi-day business-events win for Wellington, filling central-city hotel capacity in mid-November and reinforcing the capital's standing as a host for specialist scientific and association meetings.
