A live, ranked list of Dunedin venues with a room that seats 1,000 or more delegates theatre-style.
Dunedin is a natural host for large academic, medical and sector conferences thanks to its university, heritage architecture and compact centre — and a surprising number of its venues can seat 1,000 delegates or more in a single theatre-style room. At this scale the shortlist includes the city's covered stadium, Town Hall and Dunedin Centre, historic theatres and its large multi-purpose event centre.
The live ranking below lists every Dunedin venue in the directory with a room seating 1,000-plus theatre, ordered by capacity. For a city of its size, Dunedin offers real depth at the top end, with characterful heritage rooms alongside modern, fully covered event space.
Capacities shown are maximum theatre configurations and reduce with staging and catering. Use the list as your shortlist, then confirm usable capacity and dates directly with each venue. See more on the capacities index or the full venues directory.
