Going Global Music Summit 2026 is a two-day music-export summit on 27-28 August 2026 at Q Theatre, Auckland, presented by IMNZ and the NZ Music Commission.
Going Global returns to Tamaki Makaurau Auckland on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August 2026, taking over Q Theatre in the CBD for two days of conference programming built around one purpose: putting the next wave of New Zealand artists directly in front of the international decision-makers who can move their careers offshore.
The summit is presented annually by Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ) in partnership with the New Zealand Music Commission, confirmed on both the event site and the Commission's own newsroom. IMNZ is the primary representative organisation for Aotearoa's independent music sector, while the NZ Music Commission delivers the export-focused programmes (including Outward Sound) that underpin the event. Going Global has run since 2011 and, per the organiser, has welcomed more than 260 international delegates and platformed 238 showcasing artists over its history.
Going Global is pitched as a boutique summit connecting international A&R, booking agents, festival programmers, licensing, management, marketing and sync representatives with New Zealand talent and industry. The 2026 international delegation announced to date is led by Dev Sherlock, Director of SXSW Music, alongside keynote speaker Tom Windish (EVP of A&R and Business Development at THE.TEAM). Further confirmed speakers span the US, UK and Australia, including figures from BIGSOUND, ROAM Artists, GYRO.Group, Carpark Records, FOCUS Wales and TBA Agency. The daytime conference runs at Q Theatre, with ticketed showcase nights across stages at Whammy and Double Whammy on Karangahape Road.
Q Theatre sits at 305 Queen Street in the heart of Auckland's CBD, a compact, well-serviced performing-arts venue a short walk from Aotea Square and the Aotea Station on the City Rail Link, with the Karangahape Road showcase venues roughly ten minutes uphill. The central-city location keeps the conference, the showcases and a deep pool of CBD accommodation within walking distance for visiting delegates.
Going Global is a rare, genuinely export-oriented business event: a repeatable annual gathering that pulls a global professional delegation into Auckland and converts contacts into outcomes. For the New Zealand events calendar it is a proven anchor for the creative-industries corporate segment in the CBD.
