Auckland's incentive travel and reward-programme specialists — who they are, what they do and how to brief them.
Auckland is New Zealand's biggest base for incentive travel and reward-programme design. The MICE directory currently lists 22 incentive specialists headquartered in the Auckland region — more than any other New Zealand city — covering everything from luxury incentive trips to year-round sales-reward platforms.
### What an incentive company does
An incentive house designs and runs the programmes that motivate and reward staff, dealers or channel partners. That can mean a fully hosted incentive trip (destination, flights, experiences, gala and on-ground management), a points-based rewards platform, or a one-off recognition event. Many Auckland operators handle both the strategy — programme design, budgeting, communications — and the delivery.
### Who's in Auckland
The listed Auckland incentive companies group roughly into three types:
### How to choose one
Match the provider to the job. A hosted domestic or overseas incentive trip needs a travel-led house with strong DMC relationships; an ongoing sales-reward scheme needs a loyalty-platform operator; a large recognition gala may be best run by a full-service events house. Ask about relevant references, who manages the programme day-to-day, and how they handle FBT and budgeting — reward programmes carry tax implications in New Zealand.
Many incentive programmes also draw on the wider MICE supply chain: PCOs and DMCs for logistics, team-building and group activities for the experiential component, and venues for launch and awards nights.
You can browse all incentive companies in the directory, or filter to other Auckland MICE suppliers from the Auckland city page.
The MICE directory lists 22 incentive specialists headquartered in the Auckland region, the largest concentration in New Zealand.
An incentive house designs and manages the reward programme itself — the strategy, communications and experience — while a DMC handles on-the-ground logistics in a destination. Some Auckland companies do both.
Yes. Most Auckland-based incentive houses run domestic and international programmes, using local DMCs and suppliers in the chosen destination.
Some do both, but many specialise. Travel-led firms focus on hosted trips, while loyalty operators run year-round points and recognition platforms — check each provider's focus.
