The New Zealand Arable Awards 2026 is a biennial national awards dinner for the arable sector, held 20 August 2026 at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, Wigram, Christchurch. It is run jointly by Federated Farmers, FAR, United Wheat Growers and the Seed & Grain NZ Association, with seven sponsored categories plus Arable Farmer of the Year and Hall of Fame honours.
The New Zealand Arable Awards 2026 is a national awards dinner celebrating the people and products of New Zealand's arable (cropping) sector. It takes place on 20 August 2026 at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Wigram, Christchurch. Following strong support in 2024, the organisers have moved the event to a biennial cycle, so 2026 is the first time it runs every second year.
According to the organisers, the awards are "an event put together by industry, for industry," delivered jointly by Federated Farmers, the Foundation for Arable Research (FAR), United Wheat Growers and the Seed & Grain NZ Association. Federated Farmers administers the event, and FAR — the industry levy body for arable growers — is a co-organiser that promotes the awards and nominations through its own channels.
The awards recognise cereal, seed and maize growers, agronomists and others across the arable value chain. There are seven nominated categories — Maize Grower of the Year, Cereal Grower of the Year, Seed Grower of the Year, Agronomist of the Year, Innovation, Positive Environmental Impact, and Working Together — each with an industry sponsor. The Arable Farmer of the Year is selected from the three grower winners, and Arable Hall of Fame inductees are chosen by the Organising Committee.
The Air Force Museum of New Zealand sits at 45 Harvard Ave, Wigram, on the former Wigram air base, roughly 15 minutes from central Christchurch and Christchurch Airport. Its event spaces, managed by Venues Ōtautahi, include the Therese Angelo Wing (about 1,440 m², used for large gala dinners) and the aircraft-lined Aircraft Hall, with capacity reported up to about 900 standing / 650 seated and free on-site parking. Christchurch offers a full range of airport, transport and accommodation options for out-of-town attendees.
As the sector's flagship recognition night, held in a distinctive Christchurch heritage venue with a confirmed date, organiser consortium and a structured awards programme, the event is a fixed point in the arable calendar and a well-supported regional business-events listing.
