A live directory of professional conference organisers and destination management companies based in Auckland.
Auckland is where most of New Zealand's national conference and incentive management capability is headquartered, which means the choice here is deeper than anywhere else in the country — and the first job is knowing which kind of partner you actually need. A PCO (professional conference organiser) runs the conference itself: programme, abstracts, registration, sponsorship and exhibition sales, budget, and on-site delivery. A DMC (destination management company) builds the ground product: itineraries, transfers, offsite venues, activities, dine-arounds and incentive programmes for groups arriving from elsewhere.
Plenty of Auckland firms do both, and many national operators run their South Island and regional work from an Auckland base. That is a genuine advantage for a multi-city programme, but it also means you should ask directly about local presence in each destination on your itinerary rather than assuming it. The other question worth asking early is the commercial model — some organisers work on a management fee, some retain commission from suppliers, some blend the two. None of those is wrong, but you should know which one you are buying.
The list below is drawn live from the MICE listings. Use it to build a shortlist, then brief three firms on the same scope so the proposals are actually comparable. MICE is the all-in-one national record for New Zealand business events — browse the full PCO and DMC directory, or work outward to venues once your organiser is appointed.

A PCO manages the conference itself, including registration, programme, sponsorship, exhibition and budget. A DMC manages the destination experience, including transfers, offsite venues, activities and incentive itineraries. Some firms offer both.
Not always. Below roughly 150 delegates many organisations run the event in-house with venue support. A PCO earns its fee fastest on multi-stream programmes, paid registration, abstract management and exhibition sales.
Common models are a fixed management fee, a per-delegate fee, supplier commission, or a combination. Ask each firm to state its model in writing so you can compare proposals on the same basis.
Usually before. A good PCO will improve your venue negotiation and can flag capacity, load-in and catering issues that are hard to see from a floor plan.
Yes, and many do routinely. Ask about their delivery model in that city, whether they have local staff or a partner, and who will actually be on site during the event.
