Aarth is a modern Indian restaurant at 1/333 Parnell Road in Parnell, close to the Auckland CBD and within easy reach of the city's central hotel stock. It opened in February 2026 and has been widely covered in New Zealand food media since.

### The concept

The restaurant is the first solo venture of chef and owner Vicky Shah, who brings more than a decade of experience across a series of well-known Auckland kitchens including Cassia, Sidart, The French Café, KOL, The Sugar Club, The Grill and Ki Māha. The name Aarth translates as "deeper meaning", which reflects the restaurant's stated intent: a considered, personal approach to Indian cuisine rather than a familiar menu of standards.

The kitchen explores the breadth of Indian cooking through lesser-seen regional influences and contemporary plating formats. The result sits at the fine-dining end of the market and has been positioned in coverage as reshaping how Indian food is presented in Auckland.

### Menu and drinks

Alongside à la carte service, the restaurant offers The Aarth Experience — a chef's tasting menu and multi-course degustation built around the season and tailored to the table. It runs through snacks, entrées, a main and dessert, each individually plated. The cocktail list is designed to support the food rather than compete with it, weaving Indian flavours through familiar spirits and matched to the heat and texture of the dishes.

Aarth is open for dinner only, from 5pm until late, Wednesday to Sunday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday, which is a material constraint for organisers planning early-week activity.

### Function and event capability

The sources reviewed do not publish details of a private dining room, function space, group capacity or event packages. Organisers should not assume dedicated event facilities exist. That said, the structured tasting menu format is inherently well suited to a hosted table — a set multi-course sequence with matched drinks removes the ordering friction that can slow a corporate dinner — and enquiries about group bookings or a buy-out should be made directly with the restaurant.
