Alpin Motel & Conference Centre

Alpin Motel & Conference Centre sits at 16 Sala Street in Whakarewarewa, on the southern edge of Rotorua and within a few minutes' walk of Whakarewarewa: The Living Māori Village. The property has 40 rooms and units set in landscaped grounds, pairing standard motel accommodation with dedicated meeting space — a combination that is relatively uncommon at this scale in Rotorua.

Accommodation and facilities

Rooms and self-contained units are spread across a garden site. Self-catering units have a kitchen or kitchenette, and rooms are fitted with flat-screen televisions and complimentary Wi-Fi. Property listings describe self-contained one-bedroom apartments with private outdoor hot tubs. Shared facilities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, a sauna, a free guest laundry, a garden barbecue area, and complimentary tea, coffee and fresh fruit at reception. Reflecting Rotorua's strong mountain-biking trade, the motel also provides secure bike storage and a bike wash station.

Meetings and events

The conference centre component comprises two meeting rooms. Trade listings record a combined capacity of around 80 people and roughly 60 square metres of dedicated meeting space, with air conditioning and broadband internet available in the rooms. Catering can be arranged for meeting breaks. In practice the rooms suit board meetings, training days, workshops, committee sessions and pre- or post-event briefings rather than large plenary conferences.

Location for business events

The Whakarewarewa position is a practical base for delegate programmes built around Rotorua's geothermal and forest attractions. Te Puia and the Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest are both close by, and Rotorua Regional Airport is roughly 10 km from the property.

Suitability for MICE: best matched to small residential meetings, training courses and team retreats of up to about 80 people that want accommodation and meeting space on a single site; larger plenary requirements are better served by other Rotorua venues.
