Beach Babylon is a seaside café and restaurant at 232 Oriental Parade in Oriental Bay, Wellington, and has been a waterfront favourite since it opened in 2004. It combines a nostalgic, retro fit-out — 1970s styling in oranges, browns and reds — with contemporary café cooking.
The all-day menu runs from brunch and lunch dishes such as bagels, burrito bowls and burgers to more substantial evening meals, drawing on Kiwi classics. A distinctive touch is its cheese and sweet dessert fondue, which began as a decorating idea when the fondue pots were first bought as décor. The café is open seven days from sunrise to sunset and is dog-friendly, holding a Google rating of around 4.3.
