Braxmere is a lakeside apartment property at 88 Waihi Road, Tokaanu, on the southern shore of Lake Taupō just outside Tūrangi. It has ten self-contained one-bedroom units, each with an uninterrupted lake view, set on a quiet no-exit road with lawn running down to the water.
Every unit follows the same layout: a separate bedroom with a king bed, an open-plan living area with kitchenette, dining table and lounge, a spacious bathroom with a large shower, and a private patio with outdoor dining. A fold-out double sofa bed is in the living area, though Braxmere states plainly that it suits children rather than adults. Maximum occupancy is four per apartment.
Kitchenettes are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a sandwich press, microwave or multi-cooker, two cooking hobs, frypan and saucepans, basic cooking tools, crockery, cutlery and wine glasses.

Note for planners: the on-site restaurant is not currently operating and is closed until further notice. Catering for any group booking therefore needs to be arranged externally.
Braxmere actively markets itself for events and offers exclusive-use tariffs for the whole property. Event types it lists include off-site meetings and conferences, team building weekends, Christmas parties, staff farewells and celebrations, after-five and networking events, family reunions and weddings. It also names external event partners for hire, styling and catering support. Note that under its standard terms, functions and parties require prior agreement at the time of booking rather than being available by default.
With ten king units and no fixed meeting room advertised, this is a small-group exclusive-buyout proposition - suited to executive retreats, board or leadership offsites and incentive groups of roughly 10 to 20 people, rather than a conventional conference venue.
Tokaanu sits at the southern end of Lake Taupō, roughly a ten-minute drive from Tūrangi and a short drive from the Tokaanu thermal pools. It is a workable base for fishing on the lake and the Tongariro River, watersports, mountain biking, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and skiing at Mount Ruapehu.
Best suited to small corporate retreats, leadership offsites and incentive or reward groups wanting a quiet, self-contained lakefront property taken on exclusive use. Given the closed restaurant and lack of a dedicated function room, organisers should plan catering and meeting set-up themselves. Explore more Tūrangi accommodation.
