Camp Estate is a country house on Larnach Castle land on the Otago Peninsula, roughly 500 metres from the Castle gate and about 20 minutes' drive from central Dunedin. It is a separate property from Larnach Lodge and the Stable Stay, and operates at the top of the Larnach Castle accommodation range: a small, high-specification house designed for exclusive use rather than a conventional hotel.
Camp Estate holds five bedrooms, neo-classically designed and reached by a marble staircase, with guest sitting room and library on the ground floor. Fit-out includes designer gas fireplaces and high-quality fittings throughout. Guests have use of a garden, terrace, bar and hot tub, and rooms have private bathrooms with bathrobes and toiletries. Free WiFi is provided. The elevated site gives sweeping outlooks over the Otago Peninsula, the harbour and surrounding farmland.
The property carries Qualmark Gold 5-star grading.
Camp Estate is marketed specifically for meetings, conferences and weddings. It has a function area that caters for up to 50 guests, and the whole house is available for exclusive whole-of-house lets, which is the key point of difference for MICE buyers - a board retreat, executive offsite or incentive group can take the entire property and grounds with complete privacy. Wedding parties also have the option of photographs at Larnach Castle itself.
A full cooked or continental breakfast is served daily at Camp Estate. Evening dining is taken at the Castle: guests have access to a hosted four-course table d'hote dinner in the historic Larnach Castle Dining Room, where guests are seated together and served dishes built around New Zealand seasonal produce. The Castle's Grand Ballroom, which seats up to 200 for dinner and up to 270 with a marquee, is available nearby for larger conference dinners and awards evenings.
Camp Estate fits senior-level, small-group business: executive retreats, incentive rewards, partner programmes, board strategy sessions and pre- or post-conference VIP stays. The combination of a 50-person function room, five bedrooms under exclusive use, in-house breakfast, Castle dining and peninsula wildlife on the doorstep makes it a strong choice where privacy and setting matter more than delegate volume. Larger plenary requirements are better paired with a city venue, using Camp Estate for the leadership cohort or the incentive tail of the programme.
